I’d like to take a minute to relay a personal message to Warner Bros. I know you guys are rushing to get Justice League done already. You’re doing the wrong thing. If I’m more excited about CG artist Daniel Araya’s imaginary, for-fun Pixar-styled Justice League production stills than your actual in-development feature, something is wrong. Slow it down, and take the time to do it well.
That being said, these are some seriously awesome CG concepts by Araya, and they do a wonderful job of showing what could have been in Pixar decided to do a Justice League feature. Hit the jump to check it out.
Though it’s been teased for a long time, perhaps even before the New 52 started, this October the Rise of the Third Army crossover event in the Green Lantern books begins. Hit the jump for the full-sized four-cover art from the event, as well as a lot of interesting details.
We knew today that Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo would be unveiling the villain of the nextBatmanarc today on the DC Comics Blog, but I had no clue they were going to be the ones to bring The Joker back into the fold. I honestly assumedDetective Comicswould eventually be returning to the character for Daniel to wrap up his plot thread, but that being said I am far more excited/happy to see Snyder and Capullo handle it. Hit the jump for the full promo art and all the details.
Another day, another fan-made piece of art that I wish was real. Disney animator Robb Pratt has created a short film for the Man of Steel, animated in traditional Disney animation style, and it’s amazing. I wish this thing was an actual cartoon, seriously. Hit the jump to see the short and be sure to stick around after the very quick credits to see some behind the scenes work from Robb.
I don’t know why I haven’t seen something like this before; it just seems too perfect. This rendition of the Caped Crusader in steampunk by artist Raymond Tan is simply striking, and deserves your attention. Hit the jump to see the full thing.
I’ve always been a sucker for mashup/crossover art, it’s no secret. I’m also a sucker for just plain well-done artwork. Luckily, this is both. Artist Ann Marcellino has come up with a series of art featuring a very unlikely crossover: The Avengers with Sailor Moon. It’s quite clever, and very polished. Hit the jump to see the pieces!
It’s taken a bit of time, but DC Comics has finally announced when the volume two hardcovers and trades for the New 52 will be going on sale: Spring 2013. Kind of ridiculous when you consider, looking at the list of collected issues, some of these titles will be wrapping up the arcs for volume two next month but oh well, that’s business. Hit the jump to see all of DC Comics’ collected editions for Spring 2013!
